'A good God would not allow the existence of evil in the world' Discuss.

Within Theology it has often been the case that the existence of evil has been used to doubt the morality of God. This need not be the case, however. One of the cases put forward for why a good God can exist, whilst evil too exists, is that by John Hick. This puts forward the view that, through evil, people develop and learn from the experience. If we did not have evil then we could not appreciate goodness in the world and so the purpose of evil in the world is educatory.
