What is a Probability Mass Function (PMF)?

A Probability Mass Function is a function used to describe the liklihood of the outcome of a random event that has a finite number of possible outcomes. The domain is the range of possible outcomes of the random event. The 'range' (or output of the function) is a number between 0 and 1, representing the probability of that outcome occuring.
