Explain how soft engineering could protect a coastline

In this question, you need to mention and describe forms of soft engineering e.g beach nourishment, land use management and coastal realignment. It is not enough to only describe the strategy, but provide a case study of when it has been used and how effective it was in that case. For example, "Land use management is one soft engineering strategy, and involves protecting sand dunes from human-caused erosion by placing boardwalks through the dunes, or completely cordoning off areas to allow the dune vegetation such as marram grass to recover". You would then cite a case study where this strategy has been implemented, and whether it had been effective or not. To reach the top mark band, it is important to compare and contrast soft engineering to hard engineering, and come to a conclusion about which is more effective. You might also present a case where the two strategies have been employed together and how effective that has been.
