What is the diathesis-stress model?

The diathesis-stress model refers to the idea that a genetic predisposition comes together with stressors or outside factors as a catalyst for a certain behaviour. The diathesis-stress model is the most prevalent format for discussion etiology in abnormal psychology and is also often used to tie together biological, cognitive and social perspectives.
