Explain one advantage and one disadvantage of using open questions in an interview.

An advantage of open questions is that respondents are given the freedom to elaborate on their answers providing in-depth accounts compared to closed questions. A disadvantage is that responses may lack reliability as they are subject to the interviewers interpretation who may be subjective in his/her selection of important themes.
