PEA stands for Point, Evidence and Analysis. This is a particularly good method to employ when writing your essays. First of all, state the point that you are going to make in your analysis. Next, you need to provide some evidence for your point. Take a quote from the text/extract which relates to this idea. Next, you need to analyse this quote. There is most likely to be a particular linguistic term which has encouraged you to make this point (such as ellipsis, declarative sentence etc), and therefore be sure to state why and how this element supports your original point.
