How do I write a good introduction for my essay?

When writing an introduction, being concise and precise is key. Your introduction should contain no more than a couple of sentences, depending on the length of your essay. It should provide a very general context to your topic, briefly explain the key terms you will be using, and clearly outline what you will discuss in your essay.
