What is the difference between UN and UN'?

Indefinite articles used with nouns beginning with a vowel sound the same but actually differ in the masculine and feminine form. UN is used for masculine forms. For example: un amico, un infermiere, un negozio, un tavolo. UN' is used for feminine forms. For example: un'amica, un'infermiera, un'idea, un'elezione.
