How to best support your students during the holidays and exam season

For any lessons you have scheduled during the holidays, it’s super important that you’re able to support your students as much as possible in the build up to their exams. As their exams are fast approaching, and now they have lots more time to focus on the areas they’ve been struggling in, this is where you can step in and really make a difference in their overall grades.

We appreciate you may have exams coming up too, so if you have any concerns about your tutoring commitments, here’s how you can minimise disruption for your students:

Reschedule your lessons in good time

If you know you’re not going to be able to make an A level school lesson, you can directly message your A-Level pupils if you need to reschedule it to a new time that works both for you.

For GCSE or KS3 school lessons you can’t make, make sure to cancel them in advance from your Bookings page. That way, we can arrange a cover tutor so the lesson can still go ahead as planned.

Leave detailed cover reports

If you need to cancel a school lesson, leave a well outlined cover report so any cover tutors (or tutors you’re covering for) are able to pick up where you left off, and make sure the next lesson is a continuation of the last.

Leave detailed lesson notes

Lesson notes play a really important role in keeping on top of what content was covered and when. Try to leave clear and detailed notes as soon as possible at the end of every lesson – their next one might be sooner than you think! Remember if you don’t have time to do this at the end of the lesson, you can go back and do this by going onto your Bookings page and clicking on the ‘Previous’ tab and clicking ‘Edit notes’.

Keep parents in the loop

For lessons on the private side, message parents or students directly early on to reschedule any lessons. If you can’t find a time that works for both of you, let them know in plenty of time that you’ll have to cancel the lesson so they can make other arrangements, or you can also direct them to get in touch with us to help them find another tutor to take over.

We’ll always be on hand during holidays so do get in touch with us if you have any further queries!

Have a great break!
