Hello! I'm an experienced tutor specializing in Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. With over three years in the field and more than 1,000 hours of tutoring, I have a solid track record of helping students excel. My methods are tried and tested, and I'm proud to say I've helped many students improve significantly, often moving from a D to an A* with focused support and tailored strategies. I have amassed over 40 5* reviews during my time tutoring. Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work at one of London’s most prestigious boarding schools, teaching Science and Geography to a group of 15 students. This experience gave me valuable insights into engaging diverse learners and adapting teaching techniques to fit individual needs. My approach is all about building understanding and confidence, with clear explanations, interactive sessions, and plenty of practice to ensure each topic is fully mastered. I’m here to help students not only reach their target grades but also develop a real understanding and enjoyment of the subjects they’re studying. Let's work together to unlock your potential and achieve the results you're aiming for!

Modern Languages and Cultures
Durham

Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a third year at Durham University studying Modern Languages and Cultures (French and German). I understand that learning a language can be really difficult sometimes, however I also believe it is one of the most rewarding feelings when you finally grasp that difficult grammar point or nail down the vocab. What I love most about languages, is that you not only learn a new skill, but you also get to discover a whole new culture. I have been on the MyTutor platform for 3 years now, and I find tutoring so rewarding for both involved! I think students tutoring students is great as it provides a different perspective, outside of a school classroom. I believe every child is different, and there is definitely not a set learning technique that helps everyone. I, however, am a big fan of visual learning (eg. mind maps, diagrams, and blurting), as it allows you to see the bigger picture and create links between different themes within a subject. I also like to use lots of past paper questions in my lessons, the best way to prepare for an exam is to practise! I also like to start each session with a small activity to warm up and get in the right headspace for learning. I particularly find this useful for language lessons as it re-introduces our brain to the language before starting on a harder activity. I can't wait to meet you soon :)

Ecological and Environmental Sciences with Management
Edinburgh
200+ lessons
University of Edinburgh 3rd year undergrad studying Ecological and Environmental Sciences with Management I've been on MyTutor for almost two years and have taught 200 lessons. I've helped students wanting to raise low grades at both A-level and GCSE as well students aiming to maintain their position at Grade 9 and A*s After every lesson, I will compile a detailed list of all the information covered and send it to you immediately after the lesson. This ensures that you don't have to fuss about scribbling things down and instead can focus on learning and improving your understanding. Also, it means that six months down the line, all your flashy case-study info or the perfect answer to explain how the melting points of Group 1 and Group 7 vary is waiting for you, ready to revise! Parents and students alike have told me how useful these notes are especially as they are tailored to the student's learning style, which they can either inform me of or we will figure it out along the way.

Hello there! My name is Sieona and I am a second year Pharmacy student. For me education was a rollercoaster ride. Even though this is a cliche statement…I know how a good student, a trying student and a bad student can be. I myself initially struggled with how to revise, and how to use revision techniques to retain information effectively - once I started my GCSEs this became more apparent and I realised that something had to change. With tutoring, speaking to older students and through trial and error I was able to try out different study methods and then adapt them, to fit my individual needs. I am here to help you get through your exams, improve exam technique, your grades and last but not least I can give you a variety of study methods to try out depending on your needs. Anyways, that’s enough about me. Hope to meet you soon!

Combined Honours in Social Sciences
Durham
I have a year of tutoring experience, working with both GCSE and A-level students to build their confidence and boost their grades. My sessions are heavily discussion-based, encouraging students to engage with the material in a relaxed and supportive environment. I focus on making content enjoyable and accessible, while targeting areas of weakness to ensure consistent progress. Having achieved high grades myself, I have a strong understanding of exam technique and how to approach different types of questions. I keep up to date with exam board specifications and tailor my lessons accordingly, helping students to feel fully prepared for their assessments. I'm currently studying Social Sciences at Durham University, where my modules include sociology, criminology, geography and politics. I'm passionate about helping students develop their critical thinking and communication skills—both of which are central to success in these subjects. Outside of tutoring, I’m a keen rugby player and enjoy baking, which often helps me connect with students beyond the classroom. I aim to create a friendly and engaging atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and pushing themselves to improve.
