Hello! I'm Micah, a second-year PhD student in Music at the University of Cambridge. Regardless of the academic level, be it KS1 to KS4/GCSE, A-Level, or University, I tailor my lessons to meet the specific needs and goals of my students. Through careful assessment of their current understanding, I craft a personalised teaching plan that addresses their challenges and enhances their strengths. My teaching approach incorporates a variety of engaging methods and resources to assist students in achieving their objectives. Interactive discussions, practical exercises, thorough material review, and targeted practice sessions featuring past exam questions are employed. Through clear explanations, vivid examples, and captivating demonstrations, I ensure students grasp concepts comprehensively. To gauge progress, I regularly administer assessments and provide valuable feedback, with a particular focus on past exam papers. Assignments and exercises are designed to evaluate learning and offer guidance for improvement. I foster an environment of open communication, encouraging students to seek clarification and ask questions. Ultimately, my aim is to empower students to become self-directed learners, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to excel in their chosen subjects at KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. Through well-structured lessons, progress assessments, and a positive learning environment, I guide and support my students on their path to success.

BA Law
Cambridge
20+ lessons
I'm Tasnia, a law graduate from the University of Cambridge. I have prior experience (300 hours+) in tutoring students from the ages of 5-18, at the stages of KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-Level and University application tutoring. This experience involved lesson planning, homework setting and marking and discussing with parents how their child is progressing. The subjects I tutor in are: Maths, English Literature, English Language, Combined Science, Sociology, History, personal statement tutoring, LNAT tutoring and Oxbridge mock interview practice. I also offer one-off or continued CV reviewing, coursework reviewing and other application reviewing sessions. I implement an interactive and engaging teaching style. I like to ask questions and understand a student’s perspectives before exploring and explaining answers to them. I like to engage in discussions and debates about what the answer could be, often challenging students to justify their answers and think their thought processes out loud - a style adopted from the teaching style of the University of Cambridge. In my sessions, I both introduce concepts and teach them whilst also helping students apply them to exam questions. I like to build on both my students’ strengths and weaknesses - interweaving the two to reach an optimum outcome.

Mathematics

Hey, I'm Ellie. I am currently studying mathematics at university. I am quite methodical and I have loved maths ever since I was a young child - in fact I would always ask for puzzle books and to learn more maths for Christmas! I have a problem solving mind and an eye for detail, which I use to do jigsaws and various puzzle books, as well as spend time with my two cats, in my spare time. I have tutored outside of MyTutor and I really enjoyed seeing my tutees grow in both confidence and understanding of the material. For me, tutoring is about helping students to achieve their full potential. When I tutor, I like to start out by explaining how to do a concept and then do some practice questions, before going onto an exam question. I also shift my focus onto exam papers more as the pupils exam season approaches, allowing them to get more of a feel for what the exam will entail. I also try to apply these concepts to the real world wherever possible, because I find this helps to make the concepts more engaging and relatable.

As a future scientist and mathematician, I want to inspire a passion for mathematics in as many students as possible . I usually offered to tutor maths and chemistry during my GCSEs and A-levels because I like teaching students how maths and science work. It pleases me to learn that students have improved their grades and have accurately understood the material. I developed my organisational abilities to prioritise tasks and get ready for tests, presentations, and homework when I studied for my GCSEs and A-levels. I enjoy providing information, different illustrations, and instructional strategies to help students grasp the material as much as possible.Throughout high school, I took part in a number of maths, chemistry, biology, and physics competitions. I am happy to have placed first in chemistry and third in maths for the entire county using a variety of exam strategies and a lot of hard work.
