The latest from MyTutor: group tuition & a new lesson space

· September 18, 2020

And just like that, it’s September! But as the education system was turned on its head earlier this year, back-to-school feels a little different this time around. This term your work with MyTutor is more important and impactful than ever, and we’ve been busy making our platform as effective as possible. Here’s what’s been going on at MyTutor HQ…illustration-online-lesson

Back to school 🍎

Term has started again, which means the government’s new national tutoring programme is coming! It gives schools extra funding to spend on tutoring companies like ours, so we’re applying to be in the mix. This means more pupils to help, and more work for you.

With that in mind, we’re reaching out to those of you who wanted to tutor school pupils last term. Existing tutors fear not – we’re always keeping an eye on demand, and won’t take on more tutors than we need.

Group tuition and a new lesson space 🖥️

Here at MyTutor we’re always thinking of ways to reach as many pupils as possible – so later this month we’re trialling small group tuition in schools. We have 90 pupils and 30 tutors who’ll be trying out the new lessons space made just for groups. Using their feedback we’ll put together extra support, training and features – so watch this space 👀

As well as that, a few of our tutors have been helping us trial some updates to the lesson space. Prepare for supercharged text boxes, the ability to screen-share, and the power to track what your student’s looking at on the whiteboard. We’ll make some tweaks after the trial, and hope to roll out the new features over the autumn.

And finally, you’ve probably heard us mention our mobile app which we’re still busy working on. We don’t have any exciting updates this time around, but we can’t wait to let you know how things progress.

A new price band 💸

We have a new price band! No matter what your rates currently are, the start of the academic year is a good time to have a think about them. If you have more reviews, happy students, and lessons under your belt since you last priced yourself, check out our FAQs to find out how to raise your rates.

Seen us on the telly? 📺

Keep your eyes and ears out, as we’ve been advertising during Good Morning Britain and will be on E4 soon – and our CEO Bertie has been popping up on local radio, too. And if you still haven’t seen our TV advert, check it out here.

The Tutor Awards 🏆

We’ve had some heartwarming nominations from students and their parents for Best Results, Best Success Story, Best Mentor and Best Confidence Builder – stay tuned for winners.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you. You can reach us on support@mytutor.co.uk or 0203 773 6024.
