If we call the unknown number 'x' we can put it in to an equation to work it out as we known 5/3 of the number is 162.5x/3 = 162then times each side of the equals symbol by 5 to get (3x/5) 5 = 16235which is the same as 3x = 810thereforex = 810/3 = 270
