What is global dimming and why does it occur?

Global dimming occurs due to light being reflected off the Earth's atmosphere and back into space.Light is reflected off the Earth's atmosphere due to the build up of Soot (C).Soot (C) is a product of incomplete combustion, when there is an insufficient amount of Oxygen.
