 (2x+3/x-4 ) - (2x-8/2x+1) = 1 (2x+3/x-4) = 1 + (2x-8/2x+1) [Add (2x-8/2x+1) to each side]2x+3= x-4 + (2x-8)(x-4)/2x+1 Times both sides by (x-4)(2x-1)=(x-4)(2x+1) + (2x-8)(x-4) [Times both sides by (2x+1) - therefore we have removed the denominators from both sides]
Expand all to give;4x2 + 8x + 3= 2x2 - 7x -4 + 2x2 - 16x - 32 [Collect like terms, and simplify]-25 = -31x0.81 = x [Divide to give x, and round to two decimal places as asked]
