What would a personal statement reflect?

A personal statement should reflect the student's personality and desire as well as reasoning as to why he/she would like to study that particular subject at the university he/she is applying to. It should also highlight the student's experiences or any incidences of importance that may have contributed towards the student's ideology in terms of the subject he/she would like to study at university.
