For a vehicule with a constant acceleration (5 m/s^2) starting at rest, how long would it take to travel 1 km?

as the acceleration is constant, to travel 1km=1000m, we use 1000 m =(1/2) (5 m/s^2)t^2, so t=sqrt(21000/5)=20 seconds

Is momentum a vector or a scalar quantity?

Momentum of an object is the product of its mass and velocity (p=m x v). Since mass is a scalar quantity and velocity is a vector quantity, we can derive that momentum must therefore be a vector quantity ...

Describe (both quanititavely and qualitiatively) the energy changes of a ball of mass 0.5kg, dropped from a height of 10m and left to bounce. Make use of the law of conservation of energy.

At the drop height, the ball possesses 0J of Kinetic Energy (KE), and only possesses Gravitational Potential Energy(GPE). From GPE=mgh...GPE=O.5x9.91x10=49.05J. As it drops, its GPE decreases and its KE i...

The Heisenberg Uncertainty principle states that ΔxΔp > h/4π. What is represented by the terms Δx, and Δp? What can we say about p if the precise value of x is known? What does this mean for experimental results.

  1. Δx and Δp represent the uncertainty in position and the uncertainty in momentum respectively.
  2. If x is known absolutely then p cannot be known at all.
  3. This means that the precise p...

When a toothbrush is charging, p.d. across the primary coil is 230 V, p.d. across the secondary coil is 7.2 V. The primary coil in the charging base has 575 turns of wire on its coil. Find the number of turns on the secondary coil inside the toothbrush.

This question is on transformers. This is clear because there is a primary and secondary coil and a different voltage between the 2 coils. Transformers induce a changing voltage in a coil. The known equat...
