Solve x^3=1 giving all the roots between -pi<=theta<=pi in exponential form

 x^3=1=e^2(pi)i

x=e^2(pi)ik/3

The three roots are

k=0    x=1 

k=1    x=e^2(pi)*i/3

k=-1   x=e^-2(pi)ik/3

solve: x^2= 4(x-3)^2

x^2= 4(x^2 - 6x + 9)

x^2= 4x^2- 24x + 36

3x^2 - 24x + 36= 0

(x-2)(x-6)=0

x= 2 or x=6
