What is the meaning of having a 3 by 3 matrix with determinent 0. Both geometrically and algebriaclly.

The matrix is singular.

No inverse matrix.

Geometrically: No unique point of intersection of planes, Either no common point, a line of intersection or the three planes coincide.

Alegebriacally: No unique solution either no solution or infinetly many solutions.

The infinite series C and S are defined C = a*cos(x) + a^2*cos(2x) + a^3*cos(3x) + ..., and S = a*sin(x) + a^2*sin(2x) + a^3*sin(3x) + ... where a is a real number and |a| < 1. By considering C+iS, show that S = a*sin(x)/(1 - 2a*cos(x) + a^2), and find C.

a) Find the general solution to the differential equation: f(x)=y''-12y'-13y=8. b) Given that when x=0, y=0 and y'=1, find the particular solution to f(x).
