If (m+8)(x^2)+m=7-8x has two real roots show that (m+9)(m-8)<0 where m is an arbitrary constant

For this we are going to test our knowledge of discriminats and factorisation. Firstly we will format the equation as (m+8)x2+8x+(m-7)=0From here we can see it takes the form ax2+bx+...

Find the sum and product of the roots of the equation 2x^2+3x-5=0

We know that for equation ax^2+bx+c=0
a = 2,b = 3,c = -5
If the roots x1 and x2 are real numbers:
x1 + x2 = -b/a = -3/2
x1*x2 = c/a = -5/2
