Solve the following simultaneous equations: a + 3b = 12, 4a - 3b = 18 (KS3 2010 Paper 2)

A cake recipe for 4 people has the following ingredients: 150g of flour, 120g of sugar, 80g of butter, 20ml of milk, and 2 eggs. How much sugar do I need to bake a cake for 7 people?

120 g of sugar is required for 4 people
Therefore 120/4=30 g of sugar is required per person.
So 30x7=210 g of sugar is required to make a cake for 7 people.
